"Inkwell-being" with Jesse Ramos (2018 collaborations overview 1/5)

Hey AllOne Family,      As we continue into early 2019 I thought it might be another fun retrospective weekly series to highlight some of the music I shared a role in throughout 2018. This year and 2015 were the only two years since 2010 that I didn't release some sort of full EP or LP project since I started sharing music publicly in 2010. However, Two-thousand and Collaborateen this was appropriately a relatively fecund year for quality collaborations and as a bonus, nearly all of them were unprecedented collaborations with artist friends as well!      Here is the start of an overview of a few of the songs that made it to the public ear (some that I wrote and recorded are still in behind-the-curtain stages). I felt it may be interesting to know the origins of relationship that spawned them and perhaps to know a brief comment on my intent and experience writing them.      I genuinely enjoy writing guest verses and answering t...

Notes from the studio: On "Killing Your Darlings"

Hey AllOne Family,      I hope this finds you well... I don't know if "Notes From The Studio" will be a recurring series but I wanted to do a little more talking about the craft and details/decisions behind what I do because I do put a lot of time and effort and mental energy into my creative process and I do love "talking shop" so much that I had this experience and I thought to write about it and invite you into this little window of my world and perhaps you could get something out of it, either as a creator yourself or just perhaps a nugget of information to satisfy any generous curiosity you might have. A few weeks ago, I tracked a new verse for a guest spot on a song from DRENT and Kleen Kut's next "Illiterate Wordsmiths" project "Edgar Allens Ave" .  The song is about bullying, suicide and loss and each rapper on the song plays a different character and role in the drama.  The incredible Ceschi of Fake Four Inc. is also...

"Youthtopia" ("I've Been Thinking..." THOUGHT PROCESS SERIES 12/12)

“I've Been Thinking...” behind the songs “THOUGHT PROCESS SERIES” My latest full length album,  “I've Been Thinking...”  released on the Savannah based label  Dope Sandwich Records and Tapes  May 3 rd  is a collection of concepts and narratives that I've written over the last few years featuring instrumental contributions from coast to coast and outside of the country as well. Looking over the collection I'd opine that it is some of my finest work to date (one would hope). What have you been thinking? Over 12 days I had planned on be releasing a behind-the-music sort of blurb for each track.  I got a little off schedule due to a series of crazy life changes and distracting obstacles, but I'm back to finishing up this series! If there are any questions or comments regarding the songs please submit them and I'll do my best to answer and fulfill them! I hope this series is of interest and that the music does something for you! As a short aside before we...

Audio-VisuAll... my goal of sharing more video content!

Hey AllOne family, The pre-order-amble: It has been some time hasn't it?!  Well, you have have heard, I am releasing a new album soon ( "I've Been Thinking..."  on May 3rd), I am planning an east coast tour, among other things and a lot has been happening!  This reminds me that I've been meaning to rekindle my relationship with this blog!  I post on social media daily and end up feeling that this blog is an aside to all of that or is only deserving of "really grand musings or giant events" and inevitably akin to writer's block (blog?) I end up sharing nothing at all!  So I'd like to talk about one of my goals and share a bunch of great things that have come of my endeavor to fulfill it! Filming before sunrise with Austin Sandick for an as-yet-unreleased video for our song "Cardiac Compass (path to preservation"  One of the goals of this year (and always) was/is to release more video content.  What exactly does that mean? What...
