AllOne NovEmbark Tour 2016: 11/25-26 An LI Visit Revealing A Small World & Big Family Happy New Year folks, at the time of me typing this up it is the first day of 2017, what a predictable but somehow always-surprising aspect of life time is hm?  Hope you all had great experiences during the celebrations of your new years.  Just getting caught up with recounting my adventures on the NovEmbark tour, you may remember that recently I had narrowly escaped being trapped in DC and made it back on the philanthropic nature of others' during my travels...here is where I'd like to pick up these not-so-harrowing travelogues.... Black Friday on Long Island, Caffeine and Jams Just after my "illogistical" journey to Washington, DC the day before Thanksgiving with a quick trek back to Long Island in time to sleepily scarf leftovers on the day of human gratitude all birds fear, I had a black friday show to perform at  The Cup in Wantagh   with my Long Island born but Denton, ...

AllOne NovEmbark Tour '16: 11/17 & 11/18 Adventures in New Haven

NOVEMBARK TOUR: 11/17-11/18 NEW HAVEN To start off the trip yesterday I headed off to New Haven for my debut there at Cafe 9 , a spot I'd been to autumn of last year where I saw my friends  Dope Knife , Miggs Son Daddy , FarOut , EyeNine and Zak G. perform.  The show was with Dodgy Sorts , Average Citizen , Dave DeLucia, Drent & Kleen Kut  !!   The drive in my new car was comfortable and the gas mileage is bonkers, made a couple of phone calls with my fancy new bluetooth situation which was nice, I hit traffic but I watched the sun setting, a time lapse with my GoPro as well.  A few hours later I arrived and met up with Collin (Dodgy Sorts) who is a unique and really intelligent guy.  We talked and played the drums and then headed out to the show at Cafe Nine which was a lot of fun, the crowd was modest and there was a lot of love and talent in the room!  Please go ahead and click the links above to check out the performers' sites!  Our f...

Preparing/announcing/thinking about the AllOne "Novembark" mini-tour 2016

Image
Hey AllOne Family! As of tonight I'm GOING BACK ON THE ROAD!! I've decided to name this one after a portmanteau, the NOVEMBARK TOUR ! I've posted the dates and events below from 11/17-12/4 (yes I know..some of this is the DECEMBARK TOUR technically, call it what you like, just come on down to an event!).  I've decided to elaborate on a few little bits of information just in the event that it may help out anyone looking to do the same... How did I Decide the Course? The seed of the tour, aside from my intrinsic need for change and desire to get out on the road and meet people (see "Travel Baggage (Carry On)" ) was a message from my friend Miggs Son Daddy   who happened to be coming up to NY and was looking for a show (we'll be performing together at The Velvet Lounge Open Mic Tuesday the 22nd as features!) and it got me thinking about where else I could travel and so I started booking feverishly! For the first time, I've opted to drive and so wit...

AllOnederlust tour: Friday 7/4- Monday 7/7 Last Weekend of the tour in ATL

Image
My wonderful friends we reach the close of the magnificent journeys of the AllOnederlust tour...accompany me on one last weekend if you would... 30 hours of travel on Independence day      July fourth wasn't necessarily celebrated as I was traveling the entire day! Around 9:30 I left my good Canadian friend Jeremy's home and I began a 30 hour journey to Atlanta that would stop in Detroit and Chicago on the way!  I started the day discovering that my friend KNife released his new album "ICONOCLAST" a politically/socially conscious rap album with some advanced and alternative musicianship involved.  For one of his songs, "Least Informed" I wrote the poem "anti-social-network-ethic"  which ended up getting published in a recent "Bards Annual 2014" Long Island anthology!  The album has a good mix of skillful brag raps and conscious material and I recommend you go to his Bandcamp page I linked earlier you can download it for free!   ...

Onederlust Tour 6/22: Indianapolis, Short and sweet

Image
Indianapolis, short and sweet, less is more!    I had a brief but short time staying with my dear Indianapolis friends!  My bus ride was much longer than I'd expected, 8 hours, having been stuck in traffic!  At that point, Megabus decided it would no longer allow my blogging page on their wi-fi network and so I wrote 9 pages of memoir for the blog of the week prior without anywhere to put it.  In the mean-time I also listened to a ton of music, all of which I recommend: Tarkio - "Omnibus" Sleep Bellum Sonno - "Judge us by how we lived our lives not how we made our living" Muse - "The Resistance" Tom Waits - "Frank's Wild Years"       At last, in the afternoon, I arrived in Indianapolis!  The sunlight and warmth was a much preferred contrast to the snowy mid-February Indy that Alexa and I had bundled and trudged through last year.  My friend Aaron picked me up within minutes of my phone call, thankfully! He'd hosted...

6/12 Feeling at Home in Albany, Day 2

Image
Hello all, from All, from Albany!  I had the pleasure of meeting a wealth of new people and exploring the charming, if overcast, city of Albany which I recommend you do someday as well!  Found a wonderful venue that made me feel at home!  Lets see where life takes us... A Literary morning ritual, and new song!      I woke up and I read for a while before anyone else was awake. Writing and reading, especially in the morning, is hugely valuable to me. The ideas are fresh in my head if I'm writing and while my brain may be slow to function if I've gotten little sleep, it's also recently gathered some typically interesting things in a dream state.  I have a pretty strict ritual of reading in the morning, it wakes me up and gets my brain churning and chewing on ideas!  Danielle and her roommate Jeany woke up at some point and Danielle offered me her green tea generously. Feeling inspired, I sat by the window to look out on t...

6/11 Back in NY, Albany Day One

Image
Glad to have you back diligent reader! When last we spoke, it was Wednesday the 11 th. I'd arrived in an overcast Albany, a place I'd never been, with a poetry reading on the horizon and no solid plans of where I'd be staying the night. Luckily, both of those things panned out in my favor! Lets experience the Capital city shall we? Welcome to Albany (the helpfulness of strangers)   I was still nervous when I'd arrived at the Albany bus station at 5pm because no attempt to stay with people in town panned out either through other friends or messages I'd sent on  Couchsurfing.org . I sent out one last mass text to some friends who I knew lived in upstate NY, asking if they had any friends in Albany, and explaining my predicament. My good friend Jill Drwal was texting me and had given me a call saying that her friend Danielle lived in Albany and had a potential place for me to stay but she'd have to wait until around 7 O'clock or so I know if t...
